In 2012 I became the center of a national debate about the intersection of domestic violence and self-defense laws. I share my story to encourage survivors; and provide insight for advocates, educators, legislators, and the legal and medical communities so that we can all better understand the causes and factors of domestic violence and develop effective prevention, intervention, and support services for victims.
